The skin is the largest organ of the body. It surrounds our entire body like a protective shield, withstands external influences and thus has to put up with a lot. It's no wonder that our skin also has to deal with challenges on a daily basis. From time to time, reddened areas of the facial skin occur, which either disappear by themselves, but can also become a serious problem. Reddened skin is a sign of the body that should be taken seriously. This makes it all the more important to take proper care of your skin.

5 tips on what you can do about red skin:

  • Soothe the skin: Reddened skin occurs when something irritates the skin. Skin should be irritated as little as possible by too many skin care products.
  • Fewer fragrances: Fragrances in creams and skin care products further irritate the skin and promote allergy skin. Therefore, they should contain little to no fragrance.
  • Avoid additives: When it comes to skin care, less is more. Skin creams often contain many additives that the skin does not tolerate. The optimal cream is therefore free of allergens.
  • Protect against the sun: Too much heat and direct sunlight favor reddened skin. Therefore, the skin should always be adequately protected against the sun.
  • Reduce stress: Stress is extremely conducive to reddened skin. This factor radiating from the inside to the outside should not be neglected.

How does reddened skin occur?

Reddened skin can have a variety of causes. The exact reason why skin areas redden, and the redness can hardly be reduced varies from person to person. Some have an allergy, and the skin reacts to certain stimuli, some have stress, and the skin is also under a constant current, but sometimes there is also a skin disease. In order to have this professionally diagnosed, a visit to the family doctor is inevitable and strongly recommended.

What does the body want to tell me?

Having some red, hot or irritated skin from time to time is normal. This redness should disappear on its own after some time. However, if the reddened skin cannot be controlled, it may be because there is something wrong with the body. Most of the time, there is an allergy that we don't know we have. The climate, medications or contact with certain textiles can cause the redness. However, there are also factors from within that cause reddened skin. For example, an unhealthy diet or stress can also cause reddened skin. The body wants to tell us to switch down a gear and relax more.
